Down in the horizon, land meets sky...

Media: oil pastel, paper

I made the Ochre-themed painting with Guache (which was given to me as a gift one Christmas) on canvass. Water-based paints (like guache) were my preferred media at that time, especially for the sunset which was also my preferred theme. i was just beginning to discover the canvass (Ipreferred paper, and pencil).
Now that painting is in the early stages of deterioration (I can't display it here simply because i've given it away).

Lesson in life:
Never use water-based paint on canvass

The Sage's Mind

This is oil pastel on paper. It was made as a study for an ochre-themed acrylic painting which I made as a gift. The ochre-themed painting was actually this concept with the concept of the Socrates sketch.

Most people who see this (and like it) say that they like the sky. It was made by blending. Back then it was my preferred technique. I was so conscious of the color scheme: I felt that the colors had to complement each other. so if I wanted to have a red sunset, I also had to put some green at the bottom. But I made the mistake of drawing the foreground first. But I still had to have red so i just put the red over the columns and voila.
