Blind Relief Association, Delhi
This is the association where I got trained.
The library has a Cassette Recording Studio for text books, and
caters to the JPM School for the Blind as well as to post

graduates and undergraduates from colleges of Delhi
University. Cassettes are also supplied, on request, to
institutions in and out of Delhi. Duplicates of existing
cassettes are provided to students. A large number of
volunteers from the community help in recording of text
books/recreation material.

NAB M.P. Shah All-India Talking Book Center, Mumbai, Maharashtra
The N.A.B. M. P. Shah All India Talking Book Centre has produced
around 3,700 titles. Currently, their members, and blind

National Institute of Visually Handicap (NIVH), Dehradun, Uttaranchal
The institute has a National Talking Book Library (Audio Books)
that has nearly 15,000 individual and Reader's Club members.
The Unit records text books, novels, general books and
magazines. The books are recorded on master cassettes and
duplicated for individuals and organisations on a loan basis,
free of charge.
It also brings out the following audio magazines:
Chayanika (Fortnightly in Hindi)
Spectrum (bi-monthly in English)
Ankur (bi-monthly in Hindi for children)

Rotary Helen Keller Talking Book Library (ROHTALK), Tamilnadu
A non-governmental organisation based at Madurai, the project
extends services to visually impaired persons by providing
talking books for home-based study and for referral study at
the library.
Membership is open to any visually impaired person for a
membership fee of Rupees 50. A disability certificate issued by
a competent authority is required.
Members are provided a maximum of five books at a time (in
cassette form) for a period of one week. These are also
available through post.
ROHTALK has books on the following topics:
School text books (as prescribed by the Government of Tamilnadu
6th to 12th Standards)
College text books
General knowledge books
Short stories/novels
Self-improvement books

R.N. Batra Talking Book Library (National Association for the Blind), Delhi
The centre produces hundreds of talking books every year covering a
range of topics from school and university textbooks to
classics, fiction, poetry and short stories.
Persons above 5 years of age can avail the services by
depositing a refundable security deposit of Rupees 100 for five
audiocassettes. Institutional membership is for Rupees 1,000.
N.A.B.-Delhi is also a resource centre for the implementation
of DAISY Digital Talking Book production and dissemination in
India. All new books recorded at their Talking Book Library
from November 2002 are recorded in digital format and are now
available both on CD and in audiocassettes.

It provides free subscriptions to Reader's Digest, Newsweek and
other magazines on disposable audiocassettes. Reader's Digest
is provided in Braille.

This is a resource of information about blindness, visual

individual links, organized by subject. The site offers
information in alternative formats (braille, recorded
