Multiple District 201 Leo Conference: May 16th- 20th 2007
In May, Sydney held the 2nd Multiple District 201 (Australia) Leo conference, which was held in conjunction to the Multiple District 201 Lions convention at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre. It is a great chance for Leo’s from all over Australia to see the sights of Sydney as well as meet with each other and share ideas. The annual Leo of the Year competition is also being judged on this weekend. Several of our members look forward to attending the conference while our Oatley Leo President Michelle will be chairing an afternoon discussion on the Lion/Leo relationship. As residents of the host city, Oatley Leo Club will also be organising some social activities to show our guests our wonderful city!

Induction of New Members
At Oatley Leo Club's latest meeting, on the 1st May, four new members were inducted into our club. Congratulations to Lisa, Ora, Yuk-Lun and Wai-Chung! Welcome to the family!

Many special guests were invited to induct the members including Martin Peebles, NSW Leo Co-ordinator and the recently appointed Assistant NSW Leo Co-ordinator, Gail Hart. It is always great to have them support the group and hear their feedback!

It is great to see the new members enthusiasm and willingness to help out in the local community. We hope to continue to increase our numbers and watch the Club grow and expand so that many more worthwhile projects can be completed! Anzac Day
This Anzac Day, three of our members, Agnes, Michelle and Giselle went to the city for the annual march, and gave out rosemary on behalf of Legacy. The day was a great chance for them to understand more about the history of Australia and the men that gave their lives. They raised over $700 for Legacy who care for the widows and dependants of deceased servicemen.

Oatley Lions 30th and Oatley Leo Club’s 3rd Birthday Celebrations

In March 2007 the Oatley Lions celebrated their 30th Birthday, and we joined them in celebrating our 3rd Birthday. A dinner party was held at Roslyn Gardens in Peakhurst and was a great night of celebrating the past and looking forward to the future.

A presentation was given about the early years of the club as well as entertainment and raffles. It was a great success and Oatley Leo Club would like to Congratulate Oatley Lions on this milestone and wish them every success for another 30 years!

Clean Up Australia Day 2007

The 18th Clean Up Australia Day was held on the 4th of March 2007 and two of our members Agnes and Michelle helped out. Along with a million other Australians, the volunteers were successful in collecting over 8000 tonnes of rubbish. We believe that we need to focus on the environment in creating a sustainable future for all.

Music in the Park 2007

For the fourth consecutive year, the Oatley Leo Club helped out the Oatley Lions at their annual Music in the Park event on the 11th March 2006. This year we continued with our old favourite, the jumping castle. All proceeds raised were donated to the drought relief in rural areas.
