Why Kurama?
Why not? Even as one of the most popular characters in Yu Yu Hakusho, Kurama is still a widely unappreciated character. Most people who've just seen the show tend to lean towards the Hiei fandom and not the Kurama fandom.

I believe this is because of what the Yu Yu Hakusho fandom is. I know that Yu Yu Hakusho was not the prettiest anime of all time. The art was quite horrid in my opinion. Most of the YYH viewers didn't watch it for the appearance; they watched it for story, characters, and originality. And who is the seemingly most stereotypical and unoriginal character in all of YYH?

Kurama.

Some people will disagree with me on this. You have to really think about it.

1) He has long hair. And let's face it. If it's an anime pretty boy, it's gotta have long hair.

2) His main weapon is a rose. Come on. Where have we heard that one before?

3) He's freakishly nice, polite, and his eyes are green. What fangirl never dreamed about a guy like that?

Yet, even under these circumstances, somehow, he got me so obsessed with him that I decided to make a shrine to his character, and that is what I must explain.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Neither do I. When I first saw Kurama on my television screen, I immediately fell head over heels in fickle teenage love with him, but after a while, I forgot about him and moved onto my next bishounen fetish. We've all done it, haven't we? After a while, I began to hate Fushigi Yuugi and its characters, and I was back in the Yu Yu Hakusho fandom. I read fanfics, I read doujinshi, and I went to every site I could find on the subject.

This was when my Kurama obsession began coming back. Before I knew it, I was collecting every Kurama image off the web, I was flaming yaoi authors for their sick perverted Kurama fantasies, and I was having a great time. I was young and fickle back then. I merely found Kurama's appearance interesting. He never seemed like someone with a mind to me.

     Until I read yaoi doujinshi.

Ew! Sick! Gross! Disgusting! Yeah, that's what I thought, too. Lots and lots of rape. Hoo boy. -_-;; But Fuji Shinichi was different. Her doujin were inspiring to me. They held a quality of good clean fangirl fun. Kurama was as we should all imagine him to be- "half seme, half giddy teenage girl."

After many fanfictions later, etc., etc., I opened up a Kurama x Hiei shrine. Unfortunately, it sucked. I'm not an avid Hiei fan. >_< I felt that Hiei had way too many shrines (even though he actually doesn't o.O), and I wanted to create one for Kura-chan. I had a desire to create a very deep character shrine- one which people would flame and compliment all the same. This was the result. "Fox in Pink - a Kurama shrine"
