Ryte
Bytes is the
monthly newsletter of the Commodore Users Group of Kansas City (CUGKC). This
newsletter will not appear on CUGKC's website before that month's scheduled CUGKC meeting. This is in deference to
actual CUGKC members. The Webmaster will strive to publish it no later than 10
days after that month's scheduled CUGKC meeting.
If you would like to join CUGKC, we would love
to have you!

Now that all that great Thanksgiving turkey dinner with all the trimmings has gone to those unmentionable parts of our bodies, it is time again for the great annual CUGKC Christmas party! So, at the next meeting be sure to bring some little tidbit to share with your fellow members. The menu so far is:
· Scott - popcorn
· Me - drink, ice, cups, and plates
The November meeting had seven members and a visitor that Mike Needham brought. A good turn out! Mike's friend was Gary Dickman. He runs "The Computer Garage" at 1827 Washington Blvd. in KCK. If you would like to contact Gary, phone 913.362.4200 or e-mail tcginc@thecomputergarage.com (plug, plug!) Scott renewed his license for another year. As always (quoting Bartles and Jaymes), thank you for your support. The Club is $25.00 richer with the purchase of some stuff by Mike. There's life in Commodore yet!
Next meeting: December 14th at the Plaza Library, 6:30 pm, in the Small Meeting Room.
Please, buy more Commodore stuff from me! I am drowning in printers, monitors, drives, and keyboards. Call or see me at the next meeting. My number is 816.761.4777 and I am home most days after 4 pm.

Well, look at what time it is! Once again, fellow CUGKC'ers, we have made it to the end of another year. Sometimes it's astounding what happens in a year's time. Sometimes it is good, and sometimes it is bad, but it is great to know that still, here in Kansas City, there stands a beacon in the computer realm reflecting the familiar blue and red "chicken lips" that stands for our Commodore machines. After standing for 27 years, I don't see any time when this club is going to bow out.
Looking over the roster I have noticed that our vivacious Beth Bundridge will be celebrating her 18 year anniversary as a CUGKC member. Thank you, Beth, for all your years of committed service to the club.
I have nothing new to report on my end of the Commodore universe, unless you count getting my first play produced on the 17th of this month. Why is that Commodore news? Because the entire manuscript was written on a Commodore 128 using the GeoWrite 128 word processing package and printed on a Seikosha SP-1000VC (Commodore compatible) printer. The director of the play DID NOT demand that the text be re-written into any IBM word processing package, but mass produced the script on the copier as is. For any CUGKC member who wishes to see the play "The Innkeeper's Story", please come to the Glad Tidings Assembly Of God church at 1315 N. 64th Street on Sunday, December 17th at 6:00 pm. Admission is free. For directions you can call the church at 913.788.7988 or you can do a Mapquest or Rand McNally search using either website. It would be great to see some of the gang come by to witness this triumph in Commodore printing in the 21st century.
I have scheduled myself to come to the December meeting mainly for the eats. I can't remember what made me miss last year's Christmas meeting, but this time I am going to put my best foot forward to be in attendance. I would like to show you all the invention Gabe made for his Playstation One that I am sure will work for the Commodore SX64 as well. I talked about it last issue and I am hoping it will work up to expectations. Since it's built on the same principle as the GABE.U.PAK.64, it should.
I was hoping for a list of "who's bringing what" to the Christmas eats to put into this month's issue, but hey, with the way my e-mail's been acting for the last few months, I am surprised anyone can send me anything. As for me, I am looking once again into trying the old meat and cheese platter with Ritz crackers that I had hoped to bring a couple of years ago. No, not the EXACT one I got in 2004, but a FRESH platter. HyVee and WalMart both seem to have great deals on such items this year.
Just think, next month's meeting will be in 2007 and the CUGKC will be celebrating its 28th year in existence. Thank God for great favors.
Have a great Christmas and I will be waiting to hear from all of the CUGKC as to what things Commodore ended up under the tree in January.
