Ryte Bytes

November, 2001 -- Volume 22, Number 11

Ryte Bytes is the monthly newsletter of the Commodore Users Group of Kansas City (CUGKC). This newsletter will usually never appear on CUGKC's website before that month's scheduled CUGKC meeting. This is in deference to actual CUGKC members. They are supposed to receive each issue hot off the presses, but due to technical difficulties, Ryte Bytes has not been mailed out for the past several months. Until these technical difficulties are resolved, the only place to read Ryte Bytes is the website. The Webmaster will strive to publish it before the 1st of the month.

To all of our dues-paying members, CUGKC apologizes for the inconvenience -- hopefully, you will bear with us until we can once again mail out
Ryte Bytes to you.

I
f you would like to join CUGKC, we would love to have you!

The Trea$ury

Well, it has started, the new 'WAR' on terrorism and if it is like the 'WAR' on drugs we will not get very far. I understand there must be some retribution for what they did. But why does our government have to be so arrogant in its dealings with other people? We drop food packets but fail to put on them what it is and how to use it in their own language! The food we dropped is NOT part of their diet. They wanted to know why we didn't drop Beans and Rice which IS part of their diet. Sen. Sam Brownback, a Republican, has it all figured out - give then lots and lots of money to raise their economy so we can trade with them. Give them Kansas wheat (not Iowa corn or Nebraska wheat only Kansas wheat will do) and all our religious leaders sign a declaration of how much we LOVE all the Muslims of the world. Hey! That's all there is to it. I am sorry but that's all our government does is GIVE away OUR money.

At the October meeting we had a sparse turnout (6). One of the members wondered where our President and VP were? I know we have fewer members but if you can't show up please have the courtesy to call someone so we can pass it along. We are now an incorporated club. John Strenge had the certificate at the meeting. Of course there were no renewals or new members.

I still have 64s and 128s with 1541 and 1571 drives. I also have monitors and printers just sitting in my basement doing nothing. For a small price they can be in your home doing something! Call or see me at the next meeting. My phone # is 816-761-4777 and I am home most days after 4 PM.

Scribe's Scribbles

The Group meeting for October was held on Wednesday, October 3rd at the Antioch Library. The attendance was 6 members.

Yours Truly was unable to attend the meeting because of vacation, so this article will be very short this month. The only thing that I want to mention is that I am glad to learn that the club is now officially CUGKC, Inc.

Finally, a reminder about the next Group meeting. See you at the Antioch Library at 7:00 on Wednesday, November 7th.
