GRADIENT MOSAIC BACKGROUND TILE

You will need:

PSP - which is available from www.jasc.com.
I used V8.10, but you can use any version for this tutorial.

Let's begin...

Open a new image 1024 x 375, transparent background.

Go to the Materials Palette/Foreground Properties, and select the foreground/background gradient - angle 90, repeat 3, style is linear gradient.
Choose the colors using the foreground and background color boxes (see diagram below).
OR open the image you want the background to compliment. Select the eyedropper, and hover over the image - left click will select your foreground, and right click with select your background.

Flood fill your new canvas with your selected gradient.

Next go to Effects/Texture Effects/Mosaic Antique.
Settings are:

Number of Columns and Rows=25
Tile Diffusion=70
Grout Width=4
Grout diffusion=50
OK

Select your cropping tool and starting at 0,0 drag it out and down to 480, 15. (The x and y co-ordinates are at the very bottom of PSP's work area.)
Crop and save your new background.
