AL 150 at Clarendon

built 1907

Running parallel to Highway 150, which currently connects Bessemer with Hoover (I-459) and points southeast, the old rail bed served the Virginia Mine until its closure. In the early 1990s, much of the structure associated with the elevated rail line was dismantled. The underpasses themselves remain, however, as monuments to a past age of glory in industrial production for central Alabama. Most of Bessemer and the surrounding communities are dirty ghosts of their former selves.
